TastingsWe hold regular, free, local tastings here at Castle Hill Cottage, Cattistock at which new wines, as well as some on our list, are open for tasting. Our customers have been able to taste many different Western Australian wines in the last year.
Tastings can be arranged 'away' but there is a charge based on distance and the number of wines; please contact us for details. Tastings have been given for private parties and for legal practices and their clients.
Tastings provide an ideal opportunity to get a feel for the wines grown in Western Australia, some you'll take to, and some you won't. But that's part of the joy of wine - it's individual to the grower and to the drinker, not to mention its place of origin. And the subject of 'terroir' versus 'new world' gains momentum. As an aside, a French wine-maker said recently 'New World is a Matter of Attitude, Not Geographic Origin', and he is now using Stelvin (ie. screw-cap) closures and naming the grape varieties on the label.
The tasting programme through to the end of 2008 is:
12 April 21 June 20 September 29 November
We will be open 10am - 7pm on each of the tasting days.
If you wish to stay in Cattistock after a tasting then take a look at Fullers Earth B&B.
We can provide a case of six single wines for wine circles, appreciation societies and wine lecturers - please contact us for details. |
